Why Winter is the Best Season to Have Lipo Done 

Readers of this blog will be familiar with the phrase “summer bodies are made in winter”. As the nights draw in, it’s worth exploring why these are the premium months to get that beach body with as little disruption to your schedule as possible.

Home for the holidays

Whether it’s work or study, many of us get extra time off during December and January. This makes it easier to schedule some extended downtime without using up large chunks of your holiday allowance. It can also allow some privacy, enabling you to take time off without drawing too much attention to it.
For mothers with children, having cosmetic surgery in January (once school resumes) can also give you some space and time to rest at home following the procedure.

Following some lipo procedures, you’ll need to wear a compression garment for a few weeks to aid healing, control swelling, and to produce the best results. The protection is necessary, but unfortunately, it could get hot and sweaty in the summertime and this can be fairly uncomfortable.
In winter, however, the compression wear acts almost as post-op thermal underwear.
The cold weather also helps keep swelling following the procedure undercover, as the body isn’t fighting as hard to lose and dissipate heat.

Some surgeries, such as those to reduce lipodema, do result in short-term minor scarring, but this is much easier to hide behind with your winter wardrobe. We’re not here to offer fashion advice, but lots of body reshaping surgeries and any associated swelling can be covered up with smart use of clothing for a short period of time.

Of course, the main advantage is it will help keep your procedure private and under wraps until the spring and summer months. You’ll also have limited exposure to sunlight, reducing potential harm, and ensuring incisions are protected. This is essential for ensuring they fade as much as possible.

Waiting for the summer

Depending on the type of surgery or surgeries, it can be several months before you’re ready to show off the results of liposuction. Although it can be a long, difficult journey, having the procedure in winter makes it easier to follow your surgeon’s recovery instructions.

When summer rolls around the compression garments will be long gone, and you’ll be ready and able show off your new shape without any restrictions on activity or wardrobe.
